Our firm has extensive experience in advising automobile, tire, lubricant and spare parts manufacturers on several commercial and tax issues related to the commercialization of their products in Greece. We advise on various aspects of the automobile business, including agency, distribution and franchise, finance, product liability, warehousing and logistics.
We have advised major international companies, including a European car manufacturer on its distribution agreement with a Greek company, a major Japanese car manufacturer on the establishment and operation of a centralized stock warehousing facility, and a major tire manufacturer on the recall of its products. We have also advised a motorcycle manufacturer on product liability issues and a car battery manufacturer on the implementation of EU Directive 2006/66 regarding battery recycling.
Additionally, among other examples, our tax practice has advised two major Japanese car manufacturers on the complex customs and excise duty implications arising from the origin of their products, advised a major Italian car manufacturer on tax and accounting issues related to intra-group service provision arrangements, car sales credit schemes and VAT readjustments, and advised a major Greek bank on the operation of its car sales financing activities.
