Our firm co-sponsored the AMVER Awards Dinner on November 1st, 2019 organised by the International Propeller Club of US – Port of Piraeus, a non-profit charity association, in cooperation with the US Embassy in Athens and the US Coast Guard. People from the shipping industry honoured the shipping companies, their vessels and crews which represent Greece’s maritime heritage in an evening dedicated to the future of shipping as it faces news challenges in a rapidly changing world.
AMVER is the Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue, an international computer-based and voluntary ship reporting system, used worldwide by search and rescue authorities, using commercial ships to rescue people in distress at sea globally. More than 2,000 Greek Owned vessels managed by 217 Greek Ship Management Companies have received their award in the event. Special Rescue Awards were also presented to shipping companies that volunteered and saved lives in danger at sea.
