Further to our Newsletter regarding the Geo - blocking regulation (“Regulation”), the prospective Ministerial Decision No.18898/2019 has been issued; said Decision, while repeating the provisions of the Regulation completes the required local components of the Regulation setting out the Greek Geo-blocking legal framework. Such local elements concern:
- The Consumer Protection Directorate (Ministry of Economy and Development) is assigned with the duty of monitoring the market and detecting potential infringements;
- Breach of the Regulation may trigger the imposition of fines ranging from Euro 1,000 to Euro 10,000 per infringement.
Said Ministerial Decision will have retroactive effect as from December 3rd 2018.
