OVERVIEW
Even though commercial law has been one of the cornerstones of our practice for more than a century, we continue to provide innovative advice to our clients as they seek to create value through maximizing opportunities in the digital economy era. Amidst this rapidly-evolving environment, we stay at the forefront of the legal field and ensure that our clients take decisions based on commercial law aspects which are critical for their business. We provide advisory support on all legal matters, including commercial contracts for the sale and supply of goods and services, agency and distribution matters, intellectual property, E-commerce, product safety and consumer protection. Through their long-term business relationships with institutional clients, our partners’ teams are fully cognizant of the various business sectors in which those clients operate; as such, they are in the best position to assist them in making the right decisions when addressing the legal needs of their commercial departments.
Our solutions include helpdesks which allow commercial executives to quickly solve day-to-day commercial law issues related to their operations. Also, our broad experience in commercial law allows us to advise and assist clients in negotiating all necessary agreements—a fact which helps them to build successful, long-term relationships with their counter-parties. We also have significant experience in helping multinational clients to adjust their global arrangements and strategies to Greek legal requirements, while promoting their groups’ global policies and procedures in the best possible manner.
In order to represent clients comprehensively in all commercial and consumer law matters, we often join forces with our litigators, which allows us to handle all forms of dispute resolution, including representation before self-regulating bodies.

Experience
Our general commercial law experience covers advisory support and drafting of contractual documents in relation to the full range of commercial issues and agreements, sale, purchase and supply contracts, terms and conditions, manufacturing, logistic, warehousing and promotion agreements and commercial co-operation schemes, to licensing, advertising and marketing agreements and strategies, outsourcing agreements, service level agreements, and commercial leases.
Agency and distribution
As a number of our foreign clients conduct business in Greece through local agents or distributors, we have developed significant experience in advising on agency and distribution agreements. This includes legal assessment and evaluation of existing distribution networks, advising on the termination or acquisition of former agents or distributors and assisting clients in a variety of other relevant matters, such as distributor network legal set-up and anti-trust.
Intellectual property
We are experts in intellectual property. We regularly provide advice on transactional IP matters such as software, trademark and technology licensing agreements, franchise agreements and IP aspects of M&A transactions, and we assist our clients in dispute resolution proceedings in relation to trademark, copyright, know-how and other IP rights infringements. We also have extensive experience in advising foreign companies which market their products in Greece on how to protect their trademarks, monitor counterfeit activities and establish and implement efficient anti-counterfeit strategies.
Consumer protection and product liability
We have in-depth knowledge and experience in advising our business clients in relation to consumer protection law and product liability, often in connection with cross-border sales. We regularly advise our clients on Market regulations, promotional offers, discounts and rebates, T&Cs, warranty terms, consumer complaints and remedies in cases of defective products, product recalls, food safety and advertisement. Also, we often represent our clients before consumer protection authorities and the Consumers' Ombudsman. These include major food and beverage companies, manufacturers of consumer products, as well as industry associations, such as direct selling.
E-commerce
Within our commercial law practice we have highly specialised E-commerce experts. They assist our clients in addressing the legal issues involved when taking their businesses worldwide, both at B2B and B2C level. We also advise clients—many of whom are international retail giants—in relation to the structuring, establishment and operation of Greek E-Shops as well as on-line sales in the Greek market, both from a consumer protection and regulatory perspective, as well as on privacy matters.
